Bye Red State. Hello Blue State!

I just couldn’t take it any longer. Red State policies are not only morally bankrupt but are also causing true harm to society’s most vulnerable. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community as well as an Atheist, I could not continue living in a Red State like Texas that refused to validate my very existence!

After spending 8 wonderful years in San Francisco, I tried coming back “home” to Texas in hopes that progress would be made. For the past decade, I have continued living here with optimism that we could eventually remove Greg Abbott from office and bring a new wave of Democratic leadership to provide voices to those without one.

However, with the advent of MAGA politics it has now become more clearer to me than ever that Texas will not be changing anytime soon. In fact, it is my opinion that Texas has only become redder over the past few years. With Abbott not having any term limits, he may be in power for at least another decade.

I refuse to continue living in Texas where I know my rights and those of others are continuing to be stripped away. Just recently, the Texas GOP have added new batshit crazy ideas to their “platform” such as the death penalty for women who have abortions, and the idea that the Bible should be taught in public schools.

The scary part is that these are no longer radical fringe ideas but things that can actually become a part of State law due to the people Texans have put into power. As for me, I just couldn’t fight any longer. I am not a Warrior. I am a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). So I am doing what is best for my own mental health.

I am moving to the Blue Progressive State of Minnesota! The land of 10,000 Lakes with Leadership who understands the human worth and dignity of all it’s citizens. After dealing with the cold frigid hearts of Texas Republicans, I know I can deal with the cold frigid Minnesota winters with the warm hearts of Minnesotans.

Governor Tim Walz is an excellent example of a Governor. He has led the charge in protecting Abortion rights, legalizing recreational marijuana, restricting gun access, deeming Minnesota to be a “Trans Refuge State”, making Minnesota the first State in the Nation to raise wages for Uber drivers, and so much more!

I am going to be one of the proudest people to say that I live in Minneapolis Minnesota! See you in August Minnesota!

  1. First They Came by Pastor Martin Niemöller

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me

  2. I can well understand your frustration with Texas and the other red states. Personally, I think Republicans are eventually going to hate what they’re doing to America. Like the Germans and Japanese after WW2, the Republican will hopefully see the pain and suffering they’re putting everyone through, and will come to befriend democracy and what America stands for. But you’re so smart to decide to watch Texas collapse from Minnesota.
