Something to keep in mind about Faith and beliefs: No belief system (religion or philosophy) has a monopoly on Truth. No belief system is without its faults. If someone tells you they know the absolute Truth and that you must have Faith in it, RUN the other way!
One thing I have learned over my many years of studying various belief systems, religions, and philosophies is that they all seem to have an element of arrogance, some more than others. Most belief systems were started by one person who claims to have had special “revelation” (this includes Jesus). This is already a red flag.
I am not saying that it is wrong to have a belief system. After all, it is your beliefs that affect your lives in more ways than one. However, you must tread carefully to avoid the pitfalls of those who claim to know “The Truth”. It is not healthy nor wise to put all your eggs in one basket and this can be applied to the “basket” of a belief system/religion etc.
Great Truths can be found in all belief systems. One must be willing to do their homework and “study to show thyself approved” as Scripture says. Believing anything just because a book tells you or even worse because a Pastor tells you is a foolish thing. The best way to an authentic life is to find your Truth and this can only be done by studying and living.
